I got myself a Snowball microphone on boxing day, and yes, it took me few times to get this, as I was learning the wonderful world of Garage Band.

Then I realized i can do also base, loops of my guitar (otherwise it's terrible) and multiple track voices!

Anyway, my singing is a bit rusty and I won't spend further time refining it (I take care of my neighbor NOW), but I hope it can give you some push into this free software that come with the Mac.

The song I'm sharing here,(soon, finding some trouble) is a cover of an old one of a classic italian singer, copyright of Lucio Battisti, La canzone del sole (it's one of these songs Italians always sing and play around the bonfire).

34th Sketchcrawl in Huntsville

Huntsville is in Ontario, 3 h north of Toronto. Might sound familiar to you because of the G8 in 2010. Although it's also famous because is landscape of many paintings of the Group of Seven.

As I was going to spend the weekend there, without doing snowboard like Kym and my friends, it come handy the fact that was Sketchcrawl weeekend! So I did few sketches. I hope you'll like to experience Sketchcrawl pheraps in your town or in your holiday place next time!

Huntsville e' in Ontario, a 3 ore Nord di Toronto. Puo' suonare familiare per via del G8 nel 2010. Ma prima di tutto questo posto e' famoso per via dei paesaggi che hanno ispirato il Gruppo dei Sette.

I finally entered in the adult's world now, but couldn't do it if not with my funny style!
Also, I've learn next time I need to do my colored area bigger than the card size, because of cutting safety, and for gaining extra 2 cards per page.

I couldn't join it for long as I had all my relatives visiting right during the 2 month of summer when Dr Sketchy Toronto re-open doors for the last time. It's surely missed and I hope somebody else will be that committed to restart it as it bring so much life to the Toronto's art venue. More pictures on my Flickr album of Dr Sketchy.

Yes, I do like cooking and I do like to learn traditional recipes even more now that I live in Canada.

Most of the times that I go to visit my family I ask for some recipes so that I'll be able to do them later when I'm hosting people for dinners.

In order, we have Grape pudding (sugo d'uva) from my Nonna Albertina, Gnocco Fritto from Simona's nonna, Lasagne Verdi from my Nonna Anna, and Spaghetti with Sardine from my Mum.

Last winter, with my friend Annie, we did 6 beanies for Christmas gifts. Our friends were enthusiast. Other friends told us we should have make more and sell them.

Said, done. Annie is great figuring out the pattern for realizing my ideas. We simplified some old design, and made some new one. And now...our beanies have PAWS and WINGS!

Getting something from a design to a real wearable hat is really fun. Annie got really enthusiast and with her friend Pam does also some mini hat, rings, magnets and now I am starting with some sculpty modeling for pins and whatnot as well. Our store is rich of many different items, and we're going to create new ones, so visit often!

Dr Sketchy Sydney - Feb 1 2011

I have a bad news for all Torontonians, Dr Sketchy Toronto is done. I hope some new intrepid person will set up a new session, as left shocked many artists in town.

During my stay in Sydney I participate to the Dr Sketchy over there. The models were gougers, and was about the Día de los Muertos, a mexican festivity about death.

The venue can guest around 50 people, can serve food and they always have 2 models staging. The only couple of things I didn't enjoy very much were the absence of usual contest (about the models, best drawing or integration with something) and the fact that out of the 3 hours we only could draw for half of the time, as there were too many 20 minutes breaks. I think it's more a "chatting- eat-drink-draw" than a sketchers passionate with unusual models meeting. Also, the location require a nice dressing code, which sort of crush with the casual canadian style I'm used to.

A note for my readers... I got a ear infection last winter, which made me feel incredibly tired for around 3 months, so I didn't join Dr sketchy for a while as would be right after work until 10pm on certain Mondays.
I have to say also that I chose to don't go to Dr Sketchy Toronto when I think the model might be too sexual, as I'm just looking for something original with crazy elegant/old/folk costumes or comic style characters.
So finally other new sketches with a charming model, Samara.
Anyway, I've finally started my Fabriano Venezia drawing book, that was gifted to me from Anna, Loic, Erin and Julien 3 years ago and never have the braveness to use such a good paper. Then Anna told me that paper is paper, it was gifted to be used. So here I am! And with this is my 3rd book of Dr sketchy art.

Xmas in Australia

Finally the watercolors made during the travel I made with Kym on Christmas 2009/ New Year 2010!
As amazing can be wondering all these amazing animals and swimming in the ocean during Dec 28th, I wished I had more time to spend to wonder around. Kym and his family have been that nice to show me so many things and places anyway, I've been lucky with my tourism!
For friends and family, I'd suggest to give a look to the 2 new album "Australia" in Flickr. Who would miss mr. kangaroo hugging Kym?!!

Finalmente gli acquerelli fatti durante le vacanze di Natale 2009, stavolta in Australia, per conoscere i genitori di Kym.
Ho avuto l'occasione di ammirare animali esotici molto affascinanti e fare il bagno nell'oceano il 28 dicembre! Peccato che le ferie lavorative non permettano mai il tempo che sarebbe veramente necessario per visitare questi posti bellissimi. Cmq sono stata fortunata che Kym e la sua famiglia si siano presi l'impegno di farmi visitare molti posti e vedere molte cose.

Visiting Ontario

Summer and Fall are been good chances to make some traveling around Toronto and further in the province of Ontario. For any Photo you can go on my Flickr account on Toronto and Ontario's collections.

So, in July: the lams at the Big Apple in Colborne (where you can buy and taste amazing apple pies), along the path to see the 1000 Islands (near Kingsdom)
In September we went to the National Park Awenda, 3 hours north of Toronto, quite beautiful site.

In the end of September we made a Winery tour in the Niagara reagion.
Then in October we went to do some pumpkin/fruits picking just outside of the city. Later in October we went to check the colorsof the trees in High Park, as Canada is famous for this in fall season.

Durante quest'estate ho visitato diversi posti nella citta' di Toronto e nella regione Ontario. In ordine, a Luglio siamo andati alle 1000 Isole e ci siamo fermati alla Big Apple di Colborne. Poi in settember siamo andati al parco Awenda e a fare un tour delle agricolture vinicole della regione del Niagara. In ottobre siamo andati nella periferia di Toronto a raccogliere zucche e altri vegetali, e poi abbiamo fato un giro al parco per vedere i colori dell'autunno. Iron Giant Project

The project has been completed and many pieces are now exposed to the Labyrinth comic store on Bloor st. in Toronto, until the end of November. Finally, after few versions (I deleted a couple from here) I re-layout everything in order to fit better the message and the style.
For who can't make a connection from it, is an elaboration of the short animated film that the kids watch at school, abut how getting safe in case of nuclear event. The cartoon is in bw, as the first version I made.

Il progetto si e' concluso pochi giorni fa. Si tratta di un tributo al film "I gigante di ferro" in occasione del suo decimo anniversario.

Che cos'e' lo Sketchcrawl?
lo Sketchcrawl e' un ritrovo di persone che disegnano i vari angoli della citta in cui ti trovi (se quel giorno sei a Firenze puoi metterti d'accordo con i Fiorentini ad esempio) disegnando qualsiasi cosa che tu voglia con la tecnica che preferisci, spostandosi insieme per riprodurre piu' aree (per questo alcuni la chiamano "Maratona di disegno").
L’idea è nata da Enrico Casarosa, genovese, residente a San Francisco, storyboard artist della Pixar dove ha collaborato anche nel recente Ratatouille e Up.

La gente che si aggrega puo' parteciparvi per tutta la giornata o solo per il tempo che si ha a disposizione. Se nessuno si aggrega alla citta' in cui sei, ed hai comunque provato a contattare altra gente (sul Forum) puoi andare cmq da solo/a o con i tuoi figli ed otterrai in realta' molti piu' disegni che seguendo un gruppo. In pratica non si svolge in tutte le citta'del mondo, non e' una cosa organizata da enti o comuni, ma dalle persone che si interessano: per questo c'e' un Forum, cosi' persone come te possono comunicare con chiunque voglia partecipare, anche chi non conosci (ancora).
Tu stesso puoi lanciare la prima pietra, ad esempio se sei di Milano, scrivere qualcosa come "allora, Suggerisco di trovarsi alle 10.30 sulle gradinate del Duomo e proseguiamo da li con la Galleria e poi andando in direzione di Castello Sforzesco".
Il secondo scopo del Forum e', alla fine della giornata o quanto prima riesci, pubblicare i disegni che hai fatto e guarare cos'hanno fatto gi altri da tutto il mondo e condividere assieme quello che e' saltato fuori, scoprire nuovi artisti o nuovi stili e trarne ispirazione.
Qui un esempio di cosa e' stato fatto a Roma durante lo scorso Sketchcrawl, in Giuno.

Torontonian are really interesting, in 4 square meters there must be 4 different races and many more ranges of age. Well, that is a selection (bad photo comp, yes, I still have to unpack the wacom) and as usual I am not good to be picky about the choice...

Drawing Day 2009

I went to the beaches of Toronto today to see what I could draw in occasion of the Drawing Day. I found a very nice spot on rocks full of cegauls and some canadian goose. The weather was wonderful and I think I'll enjoy this place more often from now on.

Here I am, after living in Montreal for 3 years and then in Vancouver for 10 months, I have moved once again. This time im in Toronto, this time for work. Not for love like last time, but hopefully Kym will come here as soon as there will be the chance. Till then I'm here on my own, but I have a few good friends here already, that helped me to get introduced to the town and things.

Little Italy might not be as good as in Montreal and Vancouver, and Canada here looks less Canada and more America, while some other things stay the same, just with new people...
I didn't waste too much time. I found Dr Sketchy and some other arty entertainment... but we go with one thing at the time...
I've already talked about this "Dr Sketchy" many times over in my blog, and already spoke about the Cameron House about a year ago. But this time I could go to the theatre in the back of the pub, and enjoy the drawing session it with my friend Adele.
The model was dressing something indescribable, but definitely funny. Adele wanted to steal the pink disguise.
The only a negative thing was in the middle of the show. Because of a disturbing scary mask on a mermaid. I'm really impressionable.
The Cameron House, in the front pub, was exposing Buttons painted and with feathers, hanged on the walls.
Well, this is Toronto. People are slightly more crazy, I guess.
It will be fun.

Have been a big sketch group on Saturday 24.
Few things happening to us!
Tyler and Andrew are going to a cool concept design school in LA, Edison is gonna spend February working in Seattle, Sunny is missing lately because getting married, while I'll leave soon for Toronto.
I made then the sketch of the ppl that joined the group today (new entry of the day, Adele) and collected some funny drawing-souvenir from the guys.

For those that are still there outside saying that Vancouver is death about art, wake up! These people are trying to organize weekly events in order to share stories, ideas, styles, etc... while doing art (for example at the Studio 221).
Well, I did my propaganda for the day, I can go to sleep now :)

Travel in Italy - Christmas 2008

For X-Mas, before leaving from Vancouver, I've got a nice small sketching album from a friend.
It was a perfect idea as this time, my holidays in Italy, has been filled by some day spent traveling in few of the most beautiful Italian cities (Kym's 1st time in Italy deserved it).
Rome is missing (a part the restaurant) and one Venice picture is incomplete in my book, as I didn't have always time to stop and make my drawings. Anyway, I'm pretty happy I could those.
I didn't take any picture, as Kym have an amazing new camera, and hopefully soon he will have something on our Flickr account....

21th Sketch Crawl - Vancouver

Back from Holidays! Well, I had fun so for once I was not looking forward to come back. Kym and I had good time visiting Italy, eating good food and spending time with family and friends. Unluckily my home area was hit by bad weather conditions and then we had more snow than usual (the usual is none).
I’ll post some draw I did during my travel very soon ;)
Anyway, back to Vancouver and to my art activities, there was the 21st Sketch crawl on January 10th, right the day after I come back. I tried to organize as well the one for Parma, posting fliers in many places, but I still don't know of the results :S
Not as many people as last time, mostly because of bad rainy/snowy day, but we had the pleasure to get to know Shawn and Jim. Hope to see some post of them on the sketch crawl forum, they’re both really talented. Might be that Sundeep will post some photo too, but I have to understand in which of the thousand websites linked to the Vancouver Sketch group :D

Finally Dr Sketchy is back in Vancouver!
When I moved here I got a bad surprise knowing the girl that was organizing it was too busy and than had to suspend it. But since a couple of months Shary Contrary re-opened it :)
I went on Monday (ops, was on the 8th, not 6th :P ) and the model, Little woo, had a very interesting dressing, with huge evil horns and light blue eye lens. She even performed a dance towards the end. Well, I'm really happy I can enjoy again this thing, even in the other side of the country :)

Cirque du Soleil

I've been at the end of June at the Cirque du Soleil in Vancouver.
Was the 1st time I saw this circus company, and this show was "Corteo", which surprisingly for me, had songs sang in Italian :P The show was just amazing, with the choreography and the acrobats.
I did a couple of sketches in the break, and I'm finally finishing them with the color version. I'm enjoying a lot watercolors in the last 2 weeks and today I finally bought a blending brush, it's very useful if you want to paint outside.

Thursday, surfing on the Scketchcrawl forum, I stumbled in few post by artist I recognized to be at the meeting of last Saturday. I checked amazing the blog of Edison Yan and I discover that he meet with lots of other locals to some cafe during Saturday afternoons. Because of the Halloween Partying of the night before, the session of yesterday was guested by Jonathan Tiong, in his art Studio, a very interesting place where to have a space to do your own or collective art. If you're in Vancouver and need of a creative environment to do your art, you can contact the ppl at the 221A Studio, or you can give them suggestions for organize an art gallery. Ah, I didn't become Psicopatic ;-) The 1st draw is about my friend Sarah, babysitting for Halloween, and the 2nd one is about my other friend Melaina , dressed as Halloween version of Alice in Wonderland.

It's amazing how some artist can organize something that get spread over the world.
I was participating to the Dr Sketchy in Montreal, and through Facebook I'm still getting invites for many other artistic group event, which I was sad to don't have the chance to go, as I live now in Vancouver.
This town is great for many things, but not so much going on about art. So I inscribed myself to a clay sculpturing course, in order to awake my rusted ability with traditional modeling.
But yesterday a friend told me that he's going to a sketchcrawl thing, and I realized that Vancouver has some artist that enjoy this kind of stuff as well. A little late this post, I know, anyway, we took the chance to visit Victoria, on Vancouver Island, in the last weekend of August. That has been a really nice trip in a relaxing environment. The picture has been done in a Mexican restaurant, that had recycled paper as tablecloth and wax pastels in little baskets for each table.
So, since I just crossed one of this fairy and dragons figurine shop, here i did my draw. I would encourage more restaurant to take such nice initiative, it is a fun entertainment for the clients :)

When I was mentoring in Vancouver Film School I discover a really cool paste to model, which never dry untill you cook it. I know, sounds silly the fact that I don't know about it, but I did 2 years in high school of working clay and I never worked plastiline or similars. Anyway. I like it and it's fast to be worked. I hope to do some more model soon, as I really enjoy it.

Yes, I know looks late now, but I did the sketch the day after I saw Sweeney Todd and finally today I did the simile-ink version. Other than that, some other sketch in order to keep alive this blog. Sadly since I moved from Montreal I draw less. I guess it's a loss of artistic inputs that I was having at work, as lot of my colleagues were drawing in waiting times and there were some fun artistic activity in Montreal to participate. Also I need to do more 3D to keep in exercise and learn some other program in order to be updated with new technologies and be more adaptable.

The second work I want to post today is a couple of character that I draw for my friend Mark Evin, which wanted to purpose the cartoon "Lost in Cyberspace" to some animation events during last summer. I wish him all the best luck.

I got the luck, during my visit in Toronto last weekend, to end-up in the Cameron House pub (Queen and Spadina). Is where they do DrSketchy there and there was an exposition of model's photos and draws all around the walls. It's been amazing. My compliments Expecially to Katherine Piro, I like her style a lot.

I'm going to this different life drawing which is called Dr. Sketchy, Anti-art school. The model is dressed up as a cabaret dancer, a character from old movies or comix etc...

I find it much more interesting of each other life drawing session I've done before (well, the onlyone is the one in Berry, see my old posts). If you're not from Montreal you might find a Dr sketchy in your own town, I invite you warmly to go. You will enjoy it.

I went to Bjork concert on september 21.
In the last album she has this colorful make-up like a circus juggler. Also, in the concert, her and her band had make-up and costumes.
So, this girl with tattoes, is thought as a scenograpy concept that I had during that concert.

Small note
I did art school in Graphic design, those of traditional stamp, so for me the wacom is a new entry in my drawing tools. But i love it!
I hope to spend more time on it, i'm just a big lazy ass too busy thinking about food first than everything else!
